The Domestic and Family Violence Court Support program provides support to those attending court (generally as witnesses) for criminal matters related to Family and Domestic Violence matters. The Court Support Case Worker plays a crucial role within this team, assisting victims in navigating the court system and connecting them with the appropriate resources.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Actioning incoming referrals and managing intake and assessment processes.
  • Ensuring appropriate safety planning has been completed for all clients;
  • Providing information about court processes and advocating on behalf of clients to ensure their rights are being protected within the legal system.
  • Providing referrals and coordinating key resources to support individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma and/or Degree in relevant social or human services qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience working in domestic and family violence support.
  • Experience providing court support services and case management (desirable).
  • Current C or CA class Driver's Licence (Qld)

Core Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of the confidentiality practice within the Child Protection and Domestic and Family Violence legislation;
  • High level of communication skills to work collaboratively with clients, external stakeholders and diverse teams;
  • High level of organisational and time management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide client assessments on safety and risk;
  • Demonstrated ability to work within the legal limitations around the right to confidentiality and privacy;
  • Sound knowledge of trauma informed practice and attachments relating to domestic family violence within family systems;
  • Sound knowledge of the issues affecting families and individuals who may be experiencing domestic and family violence, child abuse, trauma informed practice, suicidal ideation, and self-harm; and
  • Proficient in the use and practical application of technology, with particular expertise in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.

All offers of employment are subject to the satisfactory completion of relevant screening and background checks, including an Australian Federal Police check, an NDIS disability worker screening check, and attainment of a Blue Card for working with children, prior to commencement.
