Job Description

Role Purpose

NBCUniversal is looking for a talented, passionate, and resourceful Legal Counsel to support NBCUniversal’s industry-leading data strategy and advanced digital advertising businesses.

As a premier media and entertainment company, NBCUniversal offers a broad suite of sophisticated advertising products to its advertisers, including audience targeting, cross platform reach and frequency measurement, and attribution, as well as innovative ad solutions with partners such as Apple, Snapchat, YouTube, and Buzzfeed.

This position will play a critical role in helping teams build and launch these products and partnerships, with a particular focus on the newly-created enterprise data strategy unit.  You will navigate complex and novel legal issues to achieve the business objectives of our internal clients. This role requires a self-starter who can think creatively and thrive in an evolving environment at the forefront of advertising technology and innovation.

Job Duties

• Provide legal support to the data, strategy, partnerships, measurement, and operations teams for the development of new technologies and products involving data and digital advertising
• Counsel on cutting-edge issues and risks associated with data collection, use, and targeting
• Coordinate with the Privacy and Information Security teams to ensure personal data and confidential information is collected, used, and secured in accordance with privacy laws and company requirements
• Advise on emerging federal and state legislation impacting NBCUniversal’s data strategy
• Structure, draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial agreements, including data partnerships and vendor contracts with research and measurement companies, data licensors, and other ad tech vendors
• Represent NBCUniversal within the digital advertising industry

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

• Law degree and member of a state bar in good standing
• Minimum of 5 years of corporate transactional experience at a law firm and/or corporate law department

Desired Characteristics

• Demonstrated experience in digital advertising and/or working with new media platforms, as well as a strong interest in advertising, privacy, and/or IP law
• Proven ability to negotiate and draft contracts for a variety of terms and conditions
• Strong work ethic with ability to multi-task successfully, working both independently and part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Outstanding academic record from top tier law school
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills

• This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week
