About the role

Job Summary

The Corporate Merchant Training Partner is responsible for driving the identification, build-out, and delivery of value-added merchant training and functional career-growth activities that are aligned to ongoing strategic merchandising initiatives. This position requires a strong understanding of the end-to-end merchandise cycle and experience in a learning and development role to support needs-identification, learning solution development and the execution of learning activities/programs to drive a learning culture across the merchandising organization. Candidates must have an analytical data-driven approach and creative mindset for success in this role. Reporting to the Director of Training and Talent Development, and partnering with members of the Senior Merchandising team, this position promotes and supports the Merchandising and Training and Talent Development teams in supporting the company Vision, Mission, and Core Values. 

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Defines learning solutions based on data analysis and drives the design, build-out and delivery of blended-learning experiences utilizing learning methodologies that include instructor-led training,        e-learning, self-study, and experiential/stretch assignments
  • Takes initiative to continually improve training content and presentations in response to learner needs, changes in business practices and applicable feedback
  • Builds trust and maintains positive, effective working relationships with stakeholders across business units/departments and can easily work cross-functionally on assigned projects
  • Conducts needs assessments with Merchandising leadership to identify skill and performance gaps across all levels of the merchandising organization
  • Stays relevant on merchandising industry knowledge and serves as a content expert on learning and development trends related to emerging leaders, transitioning leaders, hi-potential leadership development, and change management
  • Monitors training regularly to ensure training is relevant, accurate and scalable
  • Partners with the Talent Management Analyst to conduct follow-up studies and surveys of training initiatives to evaluate effectiveness and measure results. Reports on participant performance and engagement
  • Manages all training logistics and communicates to learners pre/post session on all pertinent information
  • Ensures a best-in-class, value-added, engaging learning experience
  • Exhibits fiscal responsibility in maintaining costs related to merchandising training needs 
  • Promotes and protects the At Home Brand
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

 

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • 5+ years in a merchandising role, preferably in a Buying or Planning capacity
  • Preferred 2+ years of training and talent development experience including needs assessment, developing learner-centered training curriculum (Instructor-led training, job-aids, self-study, etc.), workshop facilitation for various levels of corporate employees
  • Demonstrated success in building, delivering, and measuring high-impact learning experiences to various levels of learners
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced, collaborative, hybrid environment, and can manage multiple priorities and projects while still being detail-focused
  • Demonstrates strong listening, written and verbal communication skills. Able to translate information in a well thought-out, concise, and easy-to-understand manner
  • Embraces change and shows adaptability and resiliency to quick changes in priorities, technology, tools, and workflow.  Persists when dealing with ambiguity
  • Engages in active problem-solving and seeks input and timely feedback to make sound decisions
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills
  • Treats others fairly and follows through on personal commitments
  • Knowledge of training methodologies
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Teams. Additional experience with Articulate 360 a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in a related field
  • Additional certifications such as CPLP, DDI, Achieve Global, Certified Coaching preferred
