The Clark Challenge for the Maryland Promise Program (MPP) is a comprehensive student support retention and scholarship program designed to help cultivate the next generation of leaders and community change agents. The Maryland Promise Scholarship Program is a signature program of President Pines and exists in partnership with the A. James and Alice B. Clark Foundation, and other generous donors. Maryland Promise Scholars receive academic and financial support, professional and leadership development training, and participate in community engagement projects. The program ensures that Scholars have a transformative higher education experience while also graduating with as little debt as possible. 

The Maryland Promise Scholarship Program is seeking a collaborative, student-centered, problem-solving, and strategic thinker to join our team as the Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Program Director, the Coordinator is an experienced professional skilled in student support and advising. As a key member of a small, dynamic team, the Coordinator will play a pivotal role in implementing key programming initiatives. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the program’s efforts in delivering high-quality events, meetings, and conferences that engage both scholars and external partners. The Coordinator must be an effective communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills, who is relatable with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty and staff, campus partners, and donors.

A strong passion for serving marginalized and historically underrepresented students is essential, as the Coordinator will actively promote the holistic success of scholars. This includes providing emotional, social, and personal support through coaching sessions focused on academic, personal, and professional growth. Additional responsibilities include program planning, facilitation, and contributing to the overall strategy and execution of the program’s objectives.

The Maryland Promise Coordinator will report directly to the Program Manager and will support the program as follows:

• Lead success coaching initiative focused on providing emotional, social, and personal support by tracking Scholar progress through mid-semester grade reports and early warning indicators, proactively identifying and supporting scholars requiring intervention;

• Develop and implement a success coaching tracking system tailored to Scholar needs, leveraging data and predictive analytics along with researched best practices for strategic support intervention with the aim of cultivating Scholars into the next generation of leaders and community change agents;

• Regularly assess and track Scholar progress in academic, personal, and professional areas using both quantitative and qualitative data, and prepare detailed performance reports to highlight strengths, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable recommendations;

• Develop calendar for the eMPower segment of monthly community meetings including topics, speakers, and scheduling, and support the execution of program meetings and signature events;

• Support Program Manager with implementation of overall program vision and goals;

• Provide administrative support for the program’s operations, including social media management, facilities work order creation, student committee oversight, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required with 1-2 years of relevant professional experience;

• Academic advising, counseling, student activities, social work, and/or student affairs;

• Direct service to marginalized and historically underrepresented college students (preferably in a higher education environment) and a keen understanding of challenges facing first-generation/low-income college-bound students and knowledge of effective interventions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
