Position: Cook 2 Full-Time, Second Shift

Hourly: $19.00/Hour, plus shift and weekend differential, if applicable

Location: Resort Division

Reports to: Sous Chef

Possible Gaming License Requirement: A gaming license is required in this role if the employee reaches a salary threshold of $50,000/year

 Responsibilities:

1. Assist in food preparation and service according to specified recipes, pictures, and chef instructions.
2. Gain knowledge of food preparation across different kitchen stations.
3. Uphold high standards of personal hygiene and sanitation.
4. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked work area.
5. Flexibly perform duties in various kitchen positions as required.
6. Execute opening and closing duties and assigned side work.
7. Participate in training.
8. Aid team members as needed.
9. Safely operate and clean department equipment.
10. Foster courteous and helpful relationships with guests.
11. Perform duties swiftly and efficiently.
12. Clean coolers, freezers, and storage areas as assigned.
13. Assist in inventory storage and rotation (FIFO).
14. Demonstrate commitment to organizational goals and vision.
15. Participate in scheduled training and evaluations.
16. May work at other venues based on business needs.
17. Adhere to all workplace policies, procedures, and regulations.
18. Adapt to changing duties based on organizational needs.
19. Perform other assigned duties.

 

Qualifications & Education:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• For full-time applicants 19 and under, HSD or GED is required.
• Minimum one-year culinary experience in high-volume setting; two years preferred.
• Obtain Serve Safe Food Handlers certification within three months.
• Moderate knowledge of fryers, grilling, and oven use.
• Demonstrated moderate knife skills and culinary knowledge.
• Familiarity with salad construction and cold food prep.
• Ability to understand and execute job assignments.
• Follow recipes and directions accurately.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Maintain a positive attitude and strong teamwork ethic.
• Effective communication skills with colleagues and management.
• Meet all employment qualifications set by North Star Mohican Casino Resort.
• Pass pre-employment drug and health screenings.
• Maintain acceptable attendance record.
• Adhere to Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.
• Collaborate effectively with diverse personalities.
• Reliable and punctual attendance.
• Wear an approved departmental uniform.
• Availability for weekend, late night, and holiday shifts.

 Work Conditions:

• Frequent standing, walking, talking, and hearing required.
• Frequent use of hands for handling, feeling, reaching, and grasping.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching may be necessary.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception.
• Evening and/or weekend work may be necessary, with extended hours and irregular shifts possible.
• Excellent personal hygiene is required due to working near others.
• The work environment is non-smoking, and dust and noise levels may vary depending on location and work area.
