What You Will Do:

This Sr. Engineering role is an opportunity to lead development of model predictive control for military and commercial gas turbine and hybrid electric propulsion systems.

  • Propulsion system feedback control algorithm development.
  • Development of onboard real-time engine models for engine health parameter estimation and state estimation
  • Sensor fusion and model-based sensor synthesis
  • Integration with internal customers including engine operability and engine performance teams, control system safety and reliability, V&V, and software teams. 
  • Analysis to derive sensor, algorithmic and computational requirements.
  • Model-based functional requirements development consistent with MBSE best practices. 
  • Rapid development of control law software solutions to mitigate emergent hardware issues. 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8 years of engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 5 with an advanced degree
  • Active U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong foundation in linear systems theory
  • Advanced degree in engineering
  • Acausal modeling using languages such as Modelica 
  • Experience developing real-time feedback control software
  • Experience implementing model predictive control in real, safety-critical systems

Controls & Diagnostics Systems (CDS)

CDS develops complex, cyber-resilient control systems and software for commercial and military engines including power and thermal management Systems and auxiliary power units. CDS also develops advanced diagnostic & health management systems to monitor our products, forecast events and help facilitate MRO operations. With growing emphasis on sustainability, CDS is on the forefront of system development for hybrid and electric propulsion.

This role is:

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
