About the role

This position is responsible for preparing, negotiating, and recording business contracts on behalf of the organization in the Telecommunications industry. This role is accountable to manage documents and correspondence related to the company’s business relationships. It's important for this individual to be tech-savvy, and willing to learn or already capable in how to effectively leverage AI and contract management software.

What You'll Do

  • Draft the first copy of legal documents
  • Manage and review business contracts for financial agreements like company purchases, rental agreements, new hire contracts and business proposals
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with each party, analyzing potential risks involved with certain contract agreements
  • Organize all legal documents in a confidential way
  • Coordinate and collaborate with department leaders to understand commercial terms, functional requirements and determine timelines for complex contracts and operate as key point of contact for Legal
  • Meet with potential customers, vendors, distributors, and partners to develop a professional relationship and negotiate the term of various agreements for the organization
  • Provide a consistent point of contact for both internal employees and external parties to plan, update and execute legal agreements
  • Leverage technology tools to draft, collaborate and manage redlines and version control, store, secure, share, and manage the lifecycle of contracts
  • Review newly proposed contracts to determine if they’re the best option for the company to pursue
  • Document contract summaries for Executive and legal review including outlining key contractual details and risks to the business to help employees and leadership better understand the information outlined in the contracts.
  • Use legal and financial terminology to draft detailed documents explaining business propositions
  • Review current contracts to determine if they should renew it and decide which updates to add to remain compliant
  • Experience with and ability to apply organizational standards when requesting and evaluating requests for proposals (RFPs). Conduct all initial research and provide information to the Corporate Lawyer
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities in the legal office

Required & Nice-to-Have Education & Experience

  • 5 (five) or more years of experience actively negotiating contracts including general management or administration experience including telecommunications industry experience and familiarity with Service Level Agreements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in contract negotiation preferred.
  • Certifications provided by the National Contract Management Association are considered a plus.

  • Communication: Must be able to communicate ideas effectively to the company, legal counsel, other parties involved in the contract, and to stakeholders to keep everyone apprised of contract-related matters, to negotiate and revise contracts both verbally and in written format.
  • Detail Oriented: Demonstrate accurate and thorough attention to details within contracts, negotiation discussions, meeting deadlines, ensuring follow-up, proof-reading and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, mathematical, etc. mistakes.
  • Time Management: Possess and demonstrate the desire and ability to complete all tasks by their deadlines to include planning and prioritizing tasks, communicating status and managing expectations with clear communication.
  • Negotiation: To represent the company and ensure a positive position for the organization for the most benefit to the company as possible.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work well with stakeholders and subject matter experts across the company including but not limited to the sales, engineering, and operation organizations, in addition to vendors, customers, or other parties when negotiating or revising a contract.
  • Initiative: Drives collaborative, productive and agenda-meeting conversations to reach agreement in the shortest time possible through calculating risk while managing to deadlines.
  • Confidence: A key aspect of successful contract management is confidence. It takes a strong attitude to successfully negotiate and execute contracts, as well as an understanding of when to walk away and when to stand one’s ground while meeting deadlines and response expectations for meaningful activity to the business including, but not limited to, revenue booking and timely renewals.
  • Documentation: Ability to draft, document and revise contract templates when needed by working closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, Delivery Operations, Executives and other company subject matter experts.
