Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking a Project Manager to support a major industrial development project onsite in the South Richmond, Virginia area. This large-scale facility includes multiple buildings supporting advanced manufacturing operations and is designed with a strong emphasis on sustainability and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting complex construction projects, particularly in commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environments. This role requires strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills to help manage stakeholders and ensure successful project execution.
This is a full-time, on-site role, requiring consistent presence at the project site Monday through Friday. Requirements may change depending on our client's needs.
Responsibilities
- Support project delivery from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Assist in coordinating with internal and external stakeholders including owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants.
- Monitor construction activities across multiple buildings and disciplines to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Help maintain project schedules, budgets, and reporting tools.
- Participate in regular project meetings and facilitate timely communication across all parties.
- Assist with procurement tracking, contract documentation, and change management processes.
- Identify and help resolve project risks and issues as they arise.
- Support compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to sustainability goals including carbon neutrality and green building certifications.
- Maintain organized project documentation and assist with reporting to internal leadership and client stakeholders.
- Collaborate with senior team members and contribute to a positive, solutions-oriented team culture.
- Track and manage project documentation, including permits, inspections, and compliance records.
- Support the preparation of presentations and updates for internal and client-facing meetings.
- Help coordinate site logistics, deliveries, and contractor access to minimize disruptions.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and escalate issues to senior leadership as needed.
- Contribute to quality assurance efforts by reviewing field reports and flagging inconsistencies.
- Assist in onboarding new team members or vendors to ensure alignment with project protocols.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–8 years of experience supporting commercial, industrial, or manufacturing construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, project coordination, and documentation.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and submittal review processes.
- Experience working on-site in a construction environment, preferably on large-scale or multi-building projects.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and LEED certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Procore, MS Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a client-facing role and representing the project team professionally.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of local building codes and permitting processes in Virginia is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
