Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities related to the construction, maintenance, repair or upkeep of buildings, grounds or other state property, requiring no license. This may include assisting in the construction or renovation of buildings, general maintenance and upkeep of plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical and other systems, minor repairs to machinery or other equipment.
Typical Functions
- Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs to various types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment (i.e. boiler and chiller components, cooling towers, air handling units variable air volume boxes, blower coil units, fan coil units, chilled water and condensing water circulating pump, heating water and domestic hot water circulating pumps, humidifiers, heat exchangers
- Maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures (i.e. sinks, traps, kitchen equipment, fountains) that uses water, steam, air or other feed line and return or waste disposal lines
- Maintains and repairs light fixtures, receptacles and switches; replaces light bulbs, ballasts and transformers; maintain generators and motors; troubleshoots and repairs electrical equipment not requiring a license
- Installs and maintains locks and other security devices; repairs or replaces tumblers, springs and other parts
- Monitors and adjusts Automated Building Systems as needed.
- Removes ice and snow from designated areas during inclement weather conditions. Maintains and repairs outside equipment (i.e. snow blower, pressure washer, leaf blower, chainsaw
- Assist other departments with the construction, repair or improvement of various projects needed for the Oklahoma History Center
- Keep shop areas clean, organized and uncluttered to maintain a safe working environment. Maintain and safely use hand tools and power tools
- Maintain a professional, positive and helpful attitude while interacting with Oklahoma History Center staff to accomplish their goals, answer their questions and help them with work orders to meet their general maintenance needs.
- Help your coworkers and staff members to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner;
- Apply personal knowledge and accessible tools to troubleshoot problems as they arrive. Interact with and inform other team members of the status of your activities or any problems that may arise
- Take responsibility for making sure tasks given to you are completed in a timely manner.
