Affirm’s Compliance team designs and implements a compliance program that proactively addresses regulatory requirements while also identifying potential compliance issues that may arise. Compliance program activities include advisory, training, testing & monitoring, reporting and oversight. Although a second line of defense, compliance partners with the business to support new products, markets, and initiatives, as well as issue identification, remediation plans and risk assessment. Compliance uses multiple data sources to enable informed decision making, strengthen controls and provide for better treatment of consumers.

Affirm is currently in search of a proficient FinTech Compliance Manager to become a part of our Product and Marketing Compliance team. The Compliance Manager will be responsible for providing guidance and direction to cross-functional business partners to ensure that our financial products and services, which are delivered through merchant and platform partnerships, align with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. As the Compliance Manager, you will work alongside the wider legal and compliance teams to identify and evaluate risks within applicable requirements, and offer guidance on mitigating potential risks. This position will lead a team of compliance professionals and will report to the Senior Director of Compliance, Marketing and Product. 

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with the Product team to assist in optimizing Affirm's product offerings, by identifying and evaluating potential compliance risks and devising effective strategies to mitigate them, while ensuring that business objectives are not compromised.

  • Collaborate with the Commercial team to deliver compliance requirements in a clear and concise manner to enable non-standard partnerships and respond to partner requests that may have compliance implications.

  • Review and approve financial services marketing materials to ensure compliance with regulations

  • Address compliance issues by working cross functionally to identify root cause and remediate issues.  

  • Develop and maintain internal and cross-functional training and reference materials to enable efficient compliance reviews.

  • Identify, document and optimize critical processes to enable scale, conduct risk assessments, support audits, oversee the remediation of systemic issues. 

  • As  a people manager you will be responsible for leading, managing, and developing direct and indirect reports. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, handling staffing needs, employee reviews, and coaching to achieve the company’s objectives. 

  • Build frameworks to bridge processes and promote cross-functional collaboration. 

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (Compliance certifications or graduate degree a plus)

  • 5+ years in a regulatory compliance advisory role.

  • 3+ year(s) of people management experience.

  • Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

  • Experience advising revenue-generating stakeholder groups 

  • A strong interest in fintech and consumer financial protections.

  • Working knowledge of consumer financial laws and regulations, including UDAAP, CAN-SPAM, FCRA, TCPA, TILA (Reg. Z), ECOA (Reg. B).

  • Inquisitive and proactive in identifying problems and proposing creative solutions.

  • Strong project management, critical thinking, and analytical skills– and the ability to coach these skills

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication with the ability to clearly present complex and contentious issues.

 

USA Pacific base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $138,800 - $208,200

USA Sapphire base pay range (all other U.S. states): $124,900 - $187,300
