The Work You Will Do:
The Community Program Manager implements and administers Community Planning Act (Chapter 163, Part II, Florida Statutes), the Development of Regional Impact Program (Chapter 380, Florida Statutes), interagency coordinated review functions (Federal Coastal Consistency, MPO Transportation Plans, Deepwater Port Master Plans, Campus Master Plans, etc.) and the provision of technical assistance to local governments. The Community Program Manager serves as supervisor to a team of professionals and plays a leadership role in state planning initiatives. This position requires the highest level of public policy expertise and significant supervisory and/or project management experience.

You will be helping the bureau and DEO create resilient by following planning principles and techniques and the using independent judgment in implementing Florida’s growth management. DEO is a fast-paced work environment in which critical thinking and prioritizing are a must.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
SPECIFIC:
- Administers review of local comprehensive plans and plan amendments for any impacts to important state resources and facilities and other documents submitted to the Department under Chapter 163, Florida Statutes. Provides expert guidance on the content of plans, plan amendments, planning principles and legal requirements. Ensures interagency coordination during the review process. Responsible for timely completion of review products.
- Reviews applications for development approval, agreements and other documents submitted to the Department under Chapter 380, Florida Statutes and implement rules. Provides expert guidance on the content of DRI applications and development orders, regional impacts and mitigation and legal requirements. Ensures interagency coordination during the review process. Responsible for timely completion of review products.
- Develops technical assistance strategies and directs and provides technical assistance to local governments and communities on planning issues.
- Plays a leadership role in organizing and completing state planning initiatives.
- Represents the Department at local public hearings and meetings, local and state committees and with various interest groups. Serve as expert witness on critical legal cases.
- Assists the Bureau Chief in coordination of the Department’s programs.
- Directly supervises a team of professionals in implementing the unit’s programmatic responsibilities. Develops and implements training and mentoring programs, promotes staff career development, and implements all performance evaluation functions. Recruits, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring all positions within the team.
