This position would be expected to follow a hybrid model of reporting to work that combines two (2) in-office workdays and telework days as needed. The primary work location is Everett; however, the incumbent will be required to travel.
The Office for Food and Nutrition Programs (FNP) at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) administers programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of the Commonwealth's children by supporting nutritious meal service in schools, day care centers, family day care homes, and summer feeding programs through school and community nutrition federal programs.
The Community Nutrition Programs Coordinator is responsible for the supervision, coordination and implementation of all community nutrition programs administered by FNP covered under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child and Adult Care Food and Summer Food Service Programs.
The selected candidate will provide expertise and perform the following duties:
Supervise, coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) for FNP; collaborate with Project Bread’s Child Nutrition Outreach Program (CNOP) for summer meals access and expansion efforts;
Analyze and oversee implementation of state and federal regulations, policies and guidance pertaining to the CACFP and SFSP;
Oversee the annual program application and preapproval process;
Collaborate with the Child Nutrition Programs Compliance Monitoring Coordinator in conjunction with Review Coordinator with the oversight of regulatory compliance for all CACFP and SFSP Administrative Reviews to ensure program compliance with federal and state regulations;
Collaborate with management staff, FNP supervisor staff and other Department personnel to develop training programs including the dissemination of regulatory information for sponsors of the CACFP and SFSP;
Conduct program outreach to increase CNP program participation including working closely in partnership with contracted outreach staff and other partner agencies;
Direct and supervise technical assistance activities for program sponsors by determining needs and assigning staff to provide assistance;
Provide expertise in nutrition, food service management, nutrition education, negotiations and personnel management to CNP sponsors;
Confer with management staff and other department personnel to provide information concerning program implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
Collaborate with management staff and other department personnel to determine program requirements and availability of resources, and present policy recommendations;
Prepare program-specific state plans required by the United States Department of Agriculture;
Prepare federal and state reports;
Coordinate interdepartmental activities as required by program regulations;
Provide recommendations concerning program plans and objectives and/or problem resolution;
Coordinate in-service education and training programs to develop or improve professional knowledge and skills;
Coordinate and collaborate effectively within and across service groups and teams to provide quality information and services; and
Perform additional duties as required.
