Position Summary:
The Community Liaison serves within Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Gina and Frank Day Health Institute (DHI), working with a broad and inclusive student population to prepare them for careers in the mental health workforce. This role collaborates closely with K-12 school districts and students to strengthen and expand the pipeline for mental health professionals in schools.

This is a grant-funded position reporting to the Associate Director. The Community Liaison will play a key role in the success of the DoE I’m Healthy Health Scholars program by fostering strong relationships between Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSUD), participating high schools, and community partners. The position is primarily focused on recruiting and supporting high school students from Title 1 Schools (T1S) who are interested in pursuing careers in school mental health. The Community Liaison will conduct workshops and seminars on Designing Your Life (DYL) in participating high schools, providing students with essential information about career pathways in mental health, preparing them for higher education, and guiding them toward professional opportunities. This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for an individual with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for supporting inclusive and underserved communities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Community Engagement and Partnership Development (30%)

• Build and maintain relationships with community partners, including local high schools, organizations in mental health, and other stakeholders.
• Incorporate feedback from community partners and program participants to enhance program offerings and achieve desired outcomes.

Outreach and Workshop Delivery (30%)

• Conduct Design Your Life (DYL)  workshops in participating high schools to prepare students for college and explore career pathways in mental health.
• Promote the DoE I’m Healthy Health Scholars program and support recruitment efforts at partner high schools.
• Provide students with guidance on college readiness, financial resources, and opportunities in mental health careers.
• Assist in coordinating the Peer Health Exchange program interns and graduate student interns in select schools, where needed

Program Support and Coordination (20%)

• Collaborate with MSUD staff and faculty, school district partners, and community organizations to maintain effective communication and program alignment.
• Assist the Program Manager (PM) and Principal Investigator (PI) in planning and executing program events.
