Description of Work
The primary purpose of the Community Employment Specialist (Vocational Evaluator) position is to conduct established work studies for all individuals seeking potential employment or individuals that already have meaningful employment at MDC according to Federal Wage and Hour Regulations & Departmental protocol. Work studies are conducted every 6 months after individuals are employed to be paid fair and or competitive wages. This position is located within Supportive Employment Program (SEP) is to provide instructional training and supervision to individuals with developmental, behavior, and/or physical disabilities on a mobile work crew at a variety of community job sites. Staff assigned to the crew routinely monitor/perform on-site training of basic vocational skills (e.g., sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, window cleaning, and small debris pick up), and are responsible for making decisions should problematic situations arise. This position will be responsible for providing input for some goal planning, activities, and recommendations regarding work assignments based on skills and abilities. Job duties/training activities are often adjusted to accommodate changes on job sites and or to specifications. This position will be responsible for conducting assessments to determine appropriate skill development while working out in the community.ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $34,270.00 - $59,973.00
Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
Experience providing direct support and oversight to individuals with I/DD to include completion of classroom/work tasks.
Physical ability to interact with individuals performing a variety of onsite job duties.
Experience using teaching strategies to improve performance and/or increase independence.
Experience utilizing behavior management techniques, and task analysis techniques for individuals with I/DD.
The applicant will be required to successfully complete the Murdoch Developmental Center “Basic Training Series”; which includes, but is not limited to program library training, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting. Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test.
Work Schedule 8:00am - 4:30pm
