SUMMARY
Working under general supervision, the Commissary Warehouse Receiver will ensure accurate, safe, and efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of raw materials and packaging within our high-volume food manufacturing environment. Success in this position requires meticulous adherence to GMP and SQF standards, accurate documentation of all inbound and outbound materials, and clear communication with leadership and other departments. The role is critical in safeguarding product quality, preventing allergen cross-contact, and supporting production efficiency. Employees in this position may interact with their leader daily to receive guidance and feedback. Most non-routine activities may require their leader’s advance approval, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.


 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive product from approved vendors, verifying that physical counts match purchase orders and invoices; promptly resolve discrepancies in coordination with purchasing and inventory teams.
  • Complete accurate receiving documentation for all inbound loads, ensuring compliance with GMP record-keeping standards and maintaining traceability for SQF audits.
  • Communicate proactively with leadership regarding inventory and receiving needs, including anticipated shortages, delays, or overages.
  • Inspect all incoming products to ensure they meet company quality standards, including packaging integrity, temperature compliance, and absence of contamination.
  • Sort and stage materials for distribution into the Commissary, using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation and allergen segregation practices to prevent cross-contact.
  • Clearly label, sort, and store all allergens in designated storage areas, following SQF allergen management protocols and ensuring all containers are sealed and identified.
  • Perform scheduled and ad hoc inventory counts as directed by the Commissary Inventory Analyst, ensuring count accuracy and variance reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records of all invoices received, ensuring documents are properly stored for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Fulfill internal orders by picking items from the warehouse and preparing them for delivery to production staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor ingredient shelves and bulk containers daily to ensure backfill and replenishment according to production demand.
  • Rotate stock based on best-by dates and supplier batch codes, including moving product from freezer to cooler for controlled defrost in compliance with food safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate back stock usage with Commissary Inventory Analyst to align with forecasted production volume and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate closely with the Commissary Inventory Analyst, Material Planner, and Quality Assurance to communicate any issues related to delivery schedules, product quality, or quantity.
  • Comply with all King’s Hawaiian safety policies, wearing appropriate PPE, following lockout/tagout procedures when applicable, and actively promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize waste, supporting the company’s continuous improvement goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and pest-free storage environment for all raw materials and packaging, including adherence to sanitation schedules and GMP housekeeping practices.
  • Support other commissary operations as needed to meet business demands, including assisting in other warehouse or production functions during peak periods or staffing shortages.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework in supply chain, warehousing, or food safety preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in warehouse receiving, preferably in a high-volume food manu
