Please note definition differences between Intern and Co-op:

Intern:  Student works full-time during the summer

Co-op:  Student works part-time while school is in session. Student may work more hours during the summer if not enrolled in classes. Students may work for a minimum of one semester or longer.

 

Both positions are paid according to current academic standing and job classification.

What We Are Looking For:

Yazaki is seeking a Market & Strategic Intelligence Co-op to join our team. As a Market & Strategic Intelligence (MSI) team member, you will assist in conducting primary, secondary, and tertiary research and analysis using various sources, including research firms, advisory services, consulting services, private and public publications, and attending subject-specific events. This role is crucial in providing actionable insights that support decision-making within Yazaki’s business ecosystem strategy, focusing on Mobility, Daily Lives, and Communities.

What You Will Be Doing:

Market & Strategic Intelligence:

• Conduct research and analysis in four key areas:

  1. Social & Market Trends: Assess changes in human behavior and cultures, and their impact on the demand and supply of relevant products and services.
  2. Sector/Industry/Company Trends: Identify leading companies, factors contributing to their success, and uncover new opportunities for Yazaki.
  3. Technology Trends: Analyze current and emerging technologies and their impact on specific sectors, industries, and Yazaki’s business domains.
  4. Country/Government Trends: Evaluate legislative trends, election cycles, and government stakeholders to assess potential impacts and country risks.

• Collaborate with global and regional heads of core functions and business units.

• Provide timely research and analysis to deliver insightful and actionable intelligence to stakeholders.

• Prepare quarterly, six-month, and annual outlook reports with actionable insights addressing potential risks and opportunities within Yazaki’s ecosystem.

• Support the preparation of custom intelligence for executive management, core functions, and business units upon request.

• Work with executive management and product/technology leaders to identify societal and market events to attend and identify subject matter experts for “intelligence scouts.”

What You Will Bring to the Table:

• A high and passionate intellectual curiosity in current and emerging technologies, sectors, industries, and leading companies.
• The ability to summarize and present findings as actionable insights based on Yazaki’s capabilities and assets.
• Working knowledge of or experience with reporting packages (MS Office, PowerBI), databases (SQL), and programming languages (Python, R, XML, JavaScript, ETL frameworks) is a plus.
• A desire to continuously learn about new technological innovations and sector-specific applications.
• Excellent ability to distill significant data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights, and present them effectively.
• Confidence in giving presentations to audiences with varying levels of subject awareness.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a collaborative attitude toward teamwork.
• Strong English language skills; proficiency in Japanese and/or Spanish is advantageous.
• Pursuing a degree in Physics, Electronics, Mathematics, Material Science, Economics, Business, or a related field; a Master’s degree is desirable but not essential.
