Job Description
Atlas is seeking a CMT Field Technician I to support construction materials testing and inspection activities on active project sites in and around Alabaster, Alabama. In this role, you will perform field testing, collect and document data, and help ensure construction projects meet quality and safety standards.
This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact infrastructure and data center projects while gaining hands-on experience in the construction and engineering industry. The role requires extensive travel during the first year of employment and regular work in outdoor construction environments.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform field testing and inspections for concrete, soils, and other construction materials.
- Collect samples, record test results, and prepare accurate field reports.
- Support quality assurance activities that help ensure projects meet specifications and standards.
- Work independently at construction sites while maintaining regular communication with project teams and supervisors.
- Safely operate company vehicles, testing equipment, and field tools.
- Follow Atlas safety practices and contribute to a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous construction experience is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Good organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work and maneuver equipment, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites.
- Ability to routinely lift and carry 40–50 pounds, including field lab samples and equipment, as required.
- Ability to drive a company truck in accordance with company guidelines and successfully pass drug testing, motor vehicle record (MVR), and background checks.
