The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) at the University of Florida is offering multiple Adjunct Clinical Postdoctoral Associate positions for the 2025-2026 academic year. The postdoctoral position offers advanced training in a variety of areas related to the health service field of psychology. Postdoctoral associates receive advanced training in university counseling services. The postdoctoral program currently offers generalists positions with the possibility for additional specialization in four major areas: (1) Psychological Assessment. (2) Intensive Support (Suicide Prevention and Intervention), (3) Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention and Intervention, Program development opportunities may be available, working alongside the program coordinators for these areas.

The CWC training program adheres to the American Psychological Association’s profession-wide competencies along with the mental health code of ethics and state laws and rules. We believe that this training is vital to all parts of counselor development and competence and thus, is incorporated into all areas of supervision, training seminars, evaluations, and professional activities.

The training program is also committed to cultivating an atmosphere that is conducive to learning by providing clinical postdoctoral associates with an appropriate blend of support and challenge. Postdoctoral associates are treated as early career professionals and as such, are given a great deal of autonomy and responsibility. Simultaneously, postdoctoral associates will receive the professional support necessary to allow for their continued professional development.

Postdoctoral associates will be expected to fulfill the multiple roles of a university counseling center clinician, which includes counseling services (individual, couples, and/or group counseling), assessment, crisis intervention, referral, consultation, outreach, supervision of student trainees, participation in staff meetings and training seminars, and timely completion of necessary administrative functions. Postdoctoral associates will receive a minimum of 2 hours of face-to-face individual supervision weekly and will be provided with various professional development opportunities.

The 12-month 2000-hour (with 900 hours in activities related to direct client contact) positions have been designed to meet the requirements for licensure in the State of Florida. Salary is $62,000 for 12 months. The mission of the Counseling and Wellness Center at the University of Florida is to support students in fostering their mental health and well-being to promote personal, educational, and career development. We achieve this through the delivery of high-quality, socially conscious services. Our primary focus is providing brief, confidential counseling to help students succeed both academically and in their interpersonal relationships.

The faculty and staff of the Counseling and Wellness Center provide trauma-informed support services. We help students navigate periods of intense mental distress, offering support for complex trauma and other adversities they may face. Our goal is to minimize the use of non-consensual interventions, employing them only after procedural due process and when all other available resources have been exhausted.   • Individual, couples, and group counseling for students with psychological, emotional, academic and/or relationship concerns
  • Crisis intervention for students experiencing a personal crisis or emergency
  • Stress management and biofeedback services
  • Outreach, prevention, and educational programs for students, faculty, and staff
  • Consultation services for students, faculty, staff, families, and friends of students
  • Training and supervision to counseling and psychology graduate students from pre-practicum through post-doctoral training
  • Assessment and referral services
  • Teaching, research, and scholarship

Our staff consists of 57 clinicians in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, and counselor education.
