Description

 A Brief Overview

Provides the set-up of various equipment and instruments (position equipment, specialty machines, OR tables) and various supplies needed for the case.

What You Will Do
  • Assists with surgical case and patient set up.
  • Responsible for setting up and taking down surgical equipment.
  • Reports equipment concerns to Biomedical Engineering and/or company.
  • Work with Biomedical Engineering to ensure all equipment is updated with preventative maintenance, or equipment that is broken is removed from department.
  • Familiarizes self to be proactive for future cases.
  • Transport specimens according to protocol.
  • Support OR suite in progress with other tasks as needed
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
 

Qualifications

 Education
  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of operating room environment. (Preferred proficiency)
  • Knowledgeable of basic mechanical and electrical tools as well as remain knowledgeable of machines and monitors utilized in the operating room. (Required proficiency)
  • Good interpersonal skills (Required proficiency)
