About the Team

We work collaboratively across the Nursing, Allied Health, and Patient Education teams to ensure alignment, standardization, and reflecting the most current and highest quality evidence integration into content.
 

About the Role

The primary role of the Clinical Editor is to author, review, edit, update, and maintain multi-media clinical content to support healthcare professionals, patients, and families and assure the content is evidence-based, accurate, and relevant. You will also review and edit content received from external authors and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). You will work primarily with the Elsevier Clinical Skills and Elsevier Patient Education solutions; however, you may also work as a SME in care plans and eLearning courses.

You will engage with cross-functional teams and serve as a general nursing expert. You will serve as a primary or secondary lead on content development projects and work collaboratively across nursing solutions to help ensure there is alignment and overall consistency in tone, voice, and message.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in and may lead multiple projects from conceptualization to execution.
  • Ensuring all content is accurate, evidence-based, and adheres to current clinical guidelines and standards.
  • Conducting thorough fact-checking and reference verification to ensure the integrity of the content.
  • Staying up to date with the latest research, trends, and developments in nursing and healthcare.
  • Serving as an expert resource on general nursing content across the continuum of care.
  • Mentoring and informally leading cross-functional team members and subject matter experts (SME).
  • Participating in team meetings and contribute to the development of editorial strategies, product improvement, and future planning.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is maintained
  • Reviewing, updating, and revising content based on scheduled and triggered review cycles, as well as customer needs and requests and current events in health care.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of editorial policies and procedures.
  • Acting as a resource of clinical information for non-clinical content team members, customer support, sales, product, and marketing.
  • Participating in related professional organizations and/or governing bodies regarding nursing practice.

Requirements

  • Are a Registered Nurse with unencumbered license and significant experience in the day-to-day care of patients across a variety of med-surg settings.
  • Have a master’s degree in nursing, or related health care field and at least 5 years of recent experience in patient care. Certified in or experience in nursing education valued.
  • Experience in authoring/writing content; healthcare-related quality, practice, regulatory requirements; and developing education materials highly valued.
  • Have excellent collaboration skills and experience working on teams.
  • Display capability of building and maintaining exceptional cross-functional relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills High computer skill competency
  • Have Project management skills and ability to meet deadlines. This includes the ability to problem solve, prioritize, and work simultaneously on multiple projects.
  • Experience in informatics or working knowledge of electronic health care documentation and delivery systems valued.
  • Have working knowledge of learner-centered or adult-learning principles, health literacy, and plain language principles.
  • Able to provide and receive constructive feedback in a professional manner
  • Have Exceptional research skills and the ability to stay current with the latest developments in nursing and healthcare.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both spoken and written forms. This includes writing, skills with a clear concise style and excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling; ability to work with templates using an electronic content management system.
  • Able to identify and assess evidence to determine the highest quality evidence and analyze, synthesize, and apply it when authoring, reviewing, and updating content
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively with a team of non-healthcare and healthcare professionals to produce high-quality educational materials and publications
