About the role

Have you worked as a veterinary technician in emergency/specialty medicine or general practice and are wondering what other opportunities there are in veterinary medicine? Put your medical knowledge to work as a Client Liaison at a premiere specialty and emergency referral practice whose key objective is to provide top quality patient care and medicine. The Client Liaison is an individual with a significant veterinary background and veterinary medical knowledge. The Liaison performs a variety of behind-the-scenes duties to ensure quality pet and client care. The Liaison must be computer savvy and able to navigate through the paperless computer system.  The Liaison must have strong client communication skills, be able to multi-task and stay well organized, and must work well with the team.     Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  
  • Phone triage of potential emergency patients   
  • Answer medical questions for clients on previously treated patients   
  • Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects, and contraindications    
  • Facilitate prescriptions and refills approved by the doctors  
  • Call prescription orders into outside pharmacies   
  • Provide daily updates to clients and facilitate patient/client visits   
  • Call clients with lab results as directed by the doctors   
  • Facilitate rechecks or emergency visits if patients need additional care   
  • Serve as intermediary between clients and clinic staff as needed   
  • Communicate with referring veterinary hospitals as needed   
  • Audit invoices of hospitalized patients ensuring that the charges are complete and appropriate for services provided  
 Qualifications:  
  • Minimum 5-years veterinary technician experience (Veterinary emergency, critical care, or specialty services preferred)  
  • Compassion for patients and clients presenting to the veterinary hospital  
  • Excellent communication skills   
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine   
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team   
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask   
  • Superior client service skills   
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations    
  • Must possess basic math skills to determine proper deposits and process payments
