POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist in technical support to all areas of the plant in assessment, implementation and maintenance of cross-functional systems. Intern would be expected to learn formal problem solving activities, facilitating continuous improvement in product quality, cost and customer satisfaction. Ensure quality of products through engineering and statistical practices to maintain and improve manufacturing process controls. Individual needs to be self-motivated, persistent, and able to work well with others.
Job Description
- Creating processes and quality documentation based upon verbal and written inputs
- Works/learns in multiple disciplines including launch, manufacturing engineering, quality, inventory control, and continuous improvement
- Responsible for data management, document and process creation and review
Required Skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced/dynamic environment
- Able to work independently as well as in a team setting
- Strong analytical skills and motivation
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Proficient in advanced Excel functionality
- Experience in database development/data mining/data science a plus
- Proficient in Visual Basic
- Comfortable and competent in both theoretical discussions and hands-on application on the plant floor
- Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills
Required Experience
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or other aligned field - mechanical/industrial engineering preferred.
Work Environment
- Office environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, computers, telephones, desks, temperature controlled.
- Manufacturing environment – includes, but not limited to, artificial lighting, machine/equipment noise, some welding exhaust, non-controlled temperatures, and PPE required.
- Must be able to change work pace as needed in response to customer or plant needs.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit frequently for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move about the plant in both the office and manufacturing areas.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
- Manual dexterity for computer work.
- Ability to communicate in an effective manner.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
