So, what’s the role?
Kin is seeking a Claims Manager with first-party property claims leadership experience to join our growing team. Because we tackle insurance differently, we want you to draw on your expertise in residential property claims while helping us to continue to innovate on behalf of Kin’s customers and our stakeholders.
In this role, you will manage a claims organization consisting of 4-5 claim supervisors, who collectively lead 20-30 claim adjusters. This inventory could be composed of Daily, CAT/Weather; Public Adjuster & Attorney Represented, and/or Large Loss claim types. You will ensure your team runs smoothly and efficiently by developing goals, educating on company strategies, and implementing procedures.
A day in the life could include:
Reviewing overall unit claim handling to ensure that standards are being met and claims are being handled timely and accurately to a final resolution.
Responding to escalated inquiries and complaints and provides guidance to a team of claim supervisors should complaints and inquiries elevate.
Monitoring overall claim unit metrics and performance and is able to identify trends and direct the remediation of unit deficiencies.
Responsible for monitoring file quality and building action plans for improvement if needed. Drive performance utilizing a data driven approach.
Appropriately applying knowledge of multiple state statutes, including the insurance code of ethics, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Analyzing claim trends and operational reports to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
Providing guidance on complex or high-exposure claims, ensuring accurate coverage analysis and fair outcomes.
Partnering with Compliance, Legal, and Underwriting to ensure regulatory adherence and best practices.
Supporting career development through coaching, performance feedback, and training programs.
Driving innovation in claims handling by identifying tools, automation, and workflow improvements that enhance efficiency.
Analyzing daily work in progress, key performance indicators, and key strategic indicators to ensure that service agreements are met and that the claims teams are meeting company goals and objectives while remaining compliant.
Ability to work independently and the ability to work flexible and/or extended hours, such as nights, weekends and holidays, depending to the company’s response to claims events.
Do I have the necessary skills?
A minimum of 5-7 years first-party property claims insurance experience of which 3+ years is in a claims leadership or management position. Second-line management is preferred.
You hold a valid Florida adjuster license (620 or 720 All Lines) or reciprocal state adjuster license that would allow you to obtain Florida licensure.
Understands how to formulate, drive, and track metrics for a group managers who are overseeing adjusters with varying focuses.
Well-versed in tools such as: Xactimate, Xactanalysis, Claims Xperience, Excel, Snapsheet, G-Suite, and Slack
