Position: Claims Adjuster
Pay: $55,000 - $75,000
Location: West Valley City, UT
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7-4 or 8-5
SUMMARY
The Claims Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving third-party auto and property damage claims. This position applies sound judgment to determine liability, manage exposures, and achieve equitable settlements in compliance with company policy, client expectations, and applicable regulations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct thorough investigations of assigned claims, including obtaining statements, gathering and reviewing evidence, and assessing coverage and damages.
• Evaluate claim exposure and determine appropriate resolution strategies.
• Negotiate settlements within assigned authority limits in accordance with company and industry best practices.
• Maintain timely and detailed documentation of claim activity and communications in accordance with established standards.
• Communicate effectively with various parties including claimants, insureds, attorneys, vendors, and internal departments throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Manage multiple active files while prioritizing urgent or high-impact cases.
• Handle conflict and sensitive situations with professionalism and composure.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align goals, identify process improvements, and ensure compliance with departmental procedures.
• Demonstrate adaptability and effective problem-solving in a dynamic and changing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in liability or insurance claims adjustment preferred.
• Transportation or logistics industry experience strongly desired.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing workload demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to hear and communicate clearly, in person and via phone, to exchange detailed information.
• Frequent sitting and use of computer and office equipment for extended periods.
• Occasional standing, kneeling, bending, lifting, or carrying up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays as required by business needs.
• Visual acuity sufficient to read data, analyze reports, and view computer screens.
