Project Overview

The Cheniere Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) Project is a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility located on the north shore of Corpus Christi Bay in Gregory, Texas. The 1,000+ acre facility started bulk early works in July 2015 as the first greenfield export facility in the United States. Bechtel has successfully and safely completed construction and it now consists of three operating Trains with an LNG production capacity of approximately 15 million tons per year (MTPA), three LNG storage tanks with combined capacity of 480,000 cubic meters of LNG, 2 Jetty superstructures that can accommodate the world’s largest vessels, and dozens of associated buildings and utilities.

 

Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project Stage 3 (CCL3) is a new phase at the existing CCL facility and will consist of seven midscale liquefaction trains with an LNG production capacity of approximately 10 MTPA and associated infrastructure including utilities. CCL3 will perform all this work predominantly on a direct hire basis with support from only a few specialty and service subcontractors.

 

Position Summary

The Civil Superintendent will report to the Lead Civil Superintendent and will be responsible for supervising and directing assigned operations within the civil earthwork discipline. The candidate may be required to coordinate assigned subcontractor activities. Supervises and directs civil earthwork craft, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift, split shift, or day shift.

 

Responsibilities

• Provide ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to their department. This includes preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings.
• Responsible for civil earthwork activities including but not limited to: trenching, excavation and backfill operations to support the installation of concrete foundations, underground utilities, underground road crossing culvert installations, stormwater management during construction, and quality management of soil testing activities.
• Inspect site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct breaches.
• Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.
• Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy. Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
• Manage the 90 day and four week look ahead schedules for labor and equipment.
• Review and approve subcontractor equipment/personnel mobilization and demobilization.
• Plan the manpower and equipment required to execute the job.
• Monitor the activities of craft to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
• Interface with Labor/Industrial Relations for craft recruitment and training programs.
• Coordinate with the General Foreman to hire craft labor to execute work.
• Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate craft personnel.
• Review craft time records using established automated tools.
• Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labor and maintaining the 90 day and four-week look ahead schedules for labor and equipment.
• Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
• Provide input to quantity tracking applications and report weekly installed quantities to Project Controls.
