Examples of duties

This position focuses on managing engineering design and construction projects that maintain and improve facilities throughout state parks and forest districts.  The work ensures that public spaces remain safe, functional, and ready for use.  As a Civil Engineer Manager, you will perform the following duties:


  • Project Management: Oversee regional project lists, set priorities, estimate costs, and develop scopes of work
  • Design Leadership: Direct civil and structural design efforts and review completed plans for accuracy and compliance
  • Construction Oversight: Assign inspection duties, review contractor submissions, and recommend change orders as needed
  • Facility Inspection: Review evaluations of bridges, buildings, dams, and utility systems to ensure safety and regulatory compliance
  • Technical Guidance: Support parks and forest districts by providing engineering advice to resolve maintenance and operational issues
  • Staff Supervision: Manage employees through evaluations, scheduling, training, and performance oversight

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position will require overnight travel.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Emporium.  The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.  Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty and one year of experience in directing the work of civil engineers.


Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.


Other Requirements:
