The Chaplain is responsible for the coordination and hands-on delivery of pastoral services to residents to ensure that their spiritual needs are met. The Chaplain is the spiritual leader of our community, providing religious support through programs, education, worship, hospice, and other services. (S)he will also provide spiritual leading and counseling, and religious teaching to the residents at Fellowship Village according to the Holy Bible, both the Old and New Testaments. Grounded in the values of compassion, inclusiveness, and our Christ-centered mission, the Chaplain will administer spiritual care without regard to religious affiliation or belief. The Chaplain leads by example, maintaining a professional work relationship with residents, clients, members, patients, family members and team members. Personally responsible and held accountable for following Fellowship Senior Living’s mission, culture (Fellowship Spirit) and values while maintaining and living our philosophy of person directed lifestyle.

Essential Functions:

  • The Chaplain provides pastoral ministry to Fellowship Village’s residents, including hospice patients and their families.
  • Position ministers through hands-on spiritual and compassionate care.
  • Collaborates on a multi-disciplinary level to work effectively as a pastoral member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team for any of Fellowship Senior Living’s services.
  • Leads discussion/support groups. Coordinates and/or leads Bible studies or other spiritual/religious activities.
  • Assists with and/or conducts liturgies, prayer services and Memorial services for residents, as needed.
  • Coordinates and provides on-site and hospital visitations.
  • Identifies the needs of the resident (senior) population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).
  • Supports the residents’ and hospice patients’ families’ unique spiritual beliefs.
  • Follows the highest standards of ethical conduct as outlined by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Educators.

Qualifications:

  • Master`s degree in Pastoral Studies/ theology/ religious studies or related to Church Ministry from accredited theological School or Pastoral ministry certification program.
  • Minimum one Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
  • Minimum of five year's experience in pastoral ministry.
  • Counseling and end of life experience working with an older population dealing with life threatening illness and/or death is required.
  • Continuing education in the field of pastoral ministry, health care, bereavement and grief counseling through recognized institutions is encouraged.
  • Ability to respond to and work with a mature resident population all levels of care, creating a warm, caring and supportive environment for the enjoyment of the residents.
  • Ability to help residents, patients, and families deal with crisis and complex matters, including end-of-life decision making.
  • Ability to work independently and display initiative.
  • Ability to maintain a positive image and representation throughout the Village and surrounding community.
  • Understanding and support of the mission and philosophy of Fellowship Senior Living, Inc. Supports the goals of the Board of Trustees and the administration.
