Job Summary:

MycoWorks is seeking a person to fill the role of Product Quality Engineer in Igualada, Spain. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products. This position involves developing and implementing quality control processes, conducting inspections, analyzing large data-sets, generating reports, and working closely with cross-functional teams to improve product quality. The Product Quality Engineer will be instrumental in upholding our commitment to reaching the highest quality for our customers. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures to ensure product quality and reliability, with a focus on data-driven approaches.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze quality and process data using statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
  • Create clear and informative data visualizations to communicate quality trends, performance, and anomalies.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Conduct regular product inspections, both at receipt of raw materials, in-process and final, to identify defects or deviations from quality standards.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and recommend corrective and preventive actions to address issues.
  • Collaborate with product and manufacturing teams to ensure quality standards are met during the product development and production phases.
  • Participate in design and process reviews to provide input on product quality and manufacturability.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, test procedures, and quality records.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis and failure investigations to resolve quality issues and prevent their recurrence.
  • Monitor and evaluate suppliers' quality performance and work with them to address any quality-related concerns.
  • Implement statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement methodologies to optimize processes and reduce defects.
  • Assist in the development of quality training programs for employees to enhance quality awareness and skills.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry quality standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance.
  • Create and execute against an annual Master Plan as well as the corresponding 30-60-90 Day Plans

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Data Science, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • 5-10 years professional experience in a quality engineering role with a strong emphasis on data analysis and visualization, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control techniques, statistical analysis, and quality management systems (ISO 9001, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to communicate quality issues and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with quality testing equipment and methods.
  • Knowledge of leather industry-specific quality standards and regulations.
  • Project management and organizational skills to lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Certification in quality engineering or a related field (ASQ, CQE, etc.) is a plus.
  • Ability to operate with incomplete information and implicit instruction
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
