The Senior Analyst, State and Local Tax, will be responsible for preparing Dana’s U.S. state and local tax returns and income tax accounting workpapers.
This role reports directly to the Manager, State and Local Tax.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare all aspects of state and local income/franchise tax compliance process.
- Work closely with Federal/international tax team to complete federal and state income tax work plan assignments and development objectives for team members.
- Identify federal tax filing positions that will impact state compliance process.
- Research, analyze, and interpret new or revised state and local tax law changes to determine potential impact on company tax profile.
- Assist with state income/franchise tax exams, defend positions taken on open returns, evaluate likelihood of sustaining positions taken, and review recognition and measurement of reserves for uncertain tax positions.
- Forecast income/franchise tax expense and track results against forecast.
- Preparation of income/franchise tax reserves and evaluation of reserve needs

Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is required. Law or Accounting preferred.
- Master’s Degree or certification (JD/CPA) preferred.
- 2+ years of corporate tax experience in the federal or state and local tax area. Experience in a Big-4 firm and/or with a U.S.-based multinational strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of Excel, Word, and standard on-line research tools (e.g., RIA)
- Technically proficient with strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills
- Ability to join and work with a team of professionals to accomplish a defined set of objectives
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to cultivate strong working relationships with personnel from various areas of responsibility within the organization.
