As the Maintenance Technician, Hygienic Water Utility Specialist (3rd shift) , you will be responsible for performing both predictive and preventive maintenance on a variety of systems. This role involves facilities, core utilities, and GMP clean utilities found in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry. The position requires effective planning, communication of work, and utilization of software systems to document tasks in accordance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP). This role will perform tasks and associated documentation, including compliance documentation, to ensure the systems are maintained in a validated state.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and mechanical support on all GMP and Non-GMP utility systems

  • Perform hands-on routine and non-routine activities for all GMP and Non-GMP utility equipment and systems.

  • Perform Corrective Maintenance (CM) on direct impact equipment/systems, including RODI, WFI, boilers, biowaste system, clean steam system, industrial HVAC, and compressed gases and CM on non-impact systems, such as plant steam, house chillers, heating hot water, and cooling towers.

  • Troubleshoot and perform hands-on repairs on all clean utilities and the main utility plant system.

  • Collaborate with vendors or work independently to resolve issues with utility equipment and systems.

  • Execute work orders, documenting work performed in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and equipment logbooks following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

  • Monitor and respond to Building Management System (BMS) and Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) alarms. Notify stakeholders on alarms and system status, address alarm issues, request support as needed, and ensure consensus with management for repairs.

  • Evaluate potential system impacts per current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) when planning and scheduling work.

  • Communicate and coordinate with different departments, Facilities Management and vendors planned and unplanned work activities. 

  • Support the pest control program.

  • Participate in weekly walkthroughs of buildings and mechanical rooms, ensuring audit readiness.

  • Assist metrology, QC, and production as needed to supplement operational requirements, promoting efficiency and task continuity on equipment.

  • Maintain accurate documents and records for all validated equipment and systems.

  • Communicate with management regarding change documentation as necessary.

Requirements:

  • High School Degree/GED with 5+ years of related experience OR Associate’s degree and 2+ years; 2-year trades vocational certification is acceptable and 2+ years experience.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry water systems or related field

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.

  • Ability to work first shift hours during scheduled shutdowns.

  • Must be able to gown for entry into controlled classified areas.

  • Record tasks and values into equipment logbooks.

  • Read and understand piping, electrical, and instrumentation drawings.

  • Ability to follow routine procedures independently and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, maintenance documentation, CMMS, and building automation operations

  • Ability to be adaptable working in changing environment.

  • Knowledge of GMP standards and regulations.
