You are the dynamic, passionate Skill Builder Lead we are looking for. Your expertise and professionalism is needed at our Child and Family Services department in Muncie, Indiana to provide training and coaching to assist new Skill Builders in developing job skills and behaviors for a successful onboarding. As an Skill Builder Lead you will create positive relationships with new hires to assist them in becoming confident and proficient in their role over the first year of employment plus you will help to improve the quality of care that is provided by the Skill Building team, while meeting the functions of the Skill Builder role within their own caseload.

Skill Builder Lead Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist supervisors with training and orientation for new Skill Builder
  2. Participates in 4 week structured orientation for new hires, following outlined training plan
  3. Facilitates job shadowing for new SBs
  4. Assists training on documentation completion process
  5. Assists supervisors with completing SB New Hire Checklist
  6. Complete periodic check-in meetings with assigned mentees throughout their first year of employment
  7. Participates in all required mentor training
  8. Completes functions of the SB within their assigned caseload as listed below:
    1. Assists the Therapist in developing, implementing and revising individual treatment plans; assures that services provided are specified in the treatment plan and monitors progress toward treatment goals.
    2. For adults, provides individual and group skills training and development to assist the patient and/or family in developing skills (i.e. Self-care, daily life management, interpersonal communication, parenting, illness management, anger management, positive coping skills, and problem solving skills) directed toward reducing psychosocial barriers.
    3. For children, provides individual and group skills training and development to assist the patient and/or family in developing skills (i.e. Coping with body image changes, coping with hormonal-induced emotional mood swings, self-care, daily life management, interpersonal communication, illness management, anger management, positive coping skills, and problem solving skills) directed toward achieving developmental milestones and reducing psychosocial barriers.
    4. Provides case management services as identified in the patient’s treatment plan.
    5. Works collaboratively with the Therapist and medical staff to ensure coordination of integrated care for the patient, including identification of health issues, compliance with treatment, and effective patient to medical provider communication.
    6. Completes CANS/ANSA re-assessments.
    7. Provides consultation to staff on specific cases involving coordination of care.
  9. The SB Lead is open to learning about the various service lines such as SMI, SED, OP/A and IDD.
  10. When deemed necessary by a supervisor the SB Lead will assist with needs of current staff that may be struggling to meet performance standards or job functions.
  11. Maintains positive working relationships with staff of other agencies and institutions, homes, and facilities, and acts as a liaison between patients and agencies and/or institutions.
  12. Prepares and maintains clinical records, reports and forms and other administrative tasks as required.
  13. Participates in continuing education activities, remaining knowledgeable in areas of expertise.
