MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
3610 Completion of an associate degree program in nursing
Internal new graduates may have a minimum of an associate degree program in nursing.
3611 Completion of a baccalaureate program in nursing
External new graduates must have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
3612 Master’s degree in nursing
Experience:
External applicants with associate degree in nursing must have 1 year (2080 hours) experience as a registered nurse.
For RNs working in a per diem/casual on-call status: Must have at least 1 year (2080 hours) of experience in an acute care setting OR internal RNs must successfully complete their probationary period AND must have at least 1 year (2080 hours) of experience in an acute care setting.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota.
Demonstrates at the time of employment and every two years thereafter, competency Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
Registered nurses re-entering the nursing field, who have not completed 520 hours of nursing practice in the past four (4) years must successfully complete a recognized refresher course in order to qualify for employment. Written information of certification validating successful completion of a refresher course must be provided before employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
Ability to effectively participate on an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Ability to collaborate, develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members, and co-workers.
Knowledge of basic computer skills, or the ability to achieve computer competency within 3 months.
Knowledge of current nursing practices and techniques.
Knowledge of chemistry, math, pharmacology, disease processes, anatomy, and all body systems.
Knowledge of emergency procedures and medical intervention techniques.
Knowledge of infection control practices and their relation to patient care outcomes.
Ability to recognize changes in patient’s condition or body systems.
Ability to critically think clinical situations and intervene appropriately.
Skilled in using basic patient care related equipment and supplies.
Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/family preferences
Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience utilizing strong customer service skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
BSN or MSN prepared is preferred.
ADN enrolled in BSN program is preferred.
