Job Description

Support the integration of production equipment into higher-level IT systems (MES Manufacturing Execution System) and automation technologies. This requires the use of appropriate technologies - e.g. OPC UA, SECS/GEM, Web API - to query data and connect production machines and plants.
Participate in the implementation of Danfoss group IT standard solutions. This may include tasks in the areas of planning, development, testing, training and documentation
Maintenance, bug fixing, improvement, refactoring and miDanfoss is looking for Lead Manufacturing Engineer with technical background who is passionate towards continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes to leverage the talent and optimize the productivity. You will be responsible for developing and driving our operational excellence methodology, as well as working with production management on improvement efforts for day-to-day operations.
The Danfoss Silicon Power LLC (www.siliconpower.danfoss.com), located in Utica NY, is a subsidiary of the globally successful Danfoss Group.  Danfoss Silicon Power develops, manufactures, and sells customized electronic power modules for a global market. As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will utilize your skills to support Danfoss Silicon Power in evaluating, developing, documenting, and continuously improving manufacturing processes using best engineering and manufacturing practices. You will drive operational excellence through application of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve yield, efficiency and OEE using effective root cause problem solving. Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality
  • Drive continuous improvement, lean, six sigma methodologies
  • Lead the efforts in implementation of new production lines and process improvements
  • Evaluate production equipment, hardware, and tooling; makes recommendations for repairs or replacement
  • Coordinate new equipment installation and ensures that it operates correctly; trains others to operate efficiently and safely
  • Analyze data to identify trends and recommend process changes to address problems
  • Develop work instructions and train employees on new or revised processes
  • Participate in EHS related actions, to improve safety on the shop floor
  • Lead and effectively interface with manufacturing and other support teams to complete projects to meet EHS, production, quality, and cost savings goals within schedule
  • Assure that all engineering designs and technical data are complete and accurately documented to provide a technical  historical base for future reference and to meet customer / end user requirements
  • Responsible for preparation and presentation of product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing information and trends
  • Lead, develop and mentor other manufacturing engineers to help create a high performing engineering team
  • Assist in creating training program for onboarding new engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • After-hours and weekend support as needed for 24/7 plant operation

Background & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Engineering or equivalent degree highly preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and quality within automotive (preferred), industrial manufacturing or a similar high volume manufacturing environment
  • Minimum requirement: 4yr degree and 5+ years of relevant industrial experience or equivalent experience can be considered. Engineering degree is preferred
  • Experience in leading and implementing manufacturing process improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to assess problems or issues with manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working in a global matrix organization with global stakeholders highly preferred
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management
  • Computer-aided drafting (CAD) software skills is highly desired
  • Experience with ISO9001, IATF 16949, FMEA, Control Plans is desired
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with SAP is desired.
  • Strong work ethic and high attention to detail

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects
