The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Demand Planning Director, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Establishing the strategy and developing the systems for demand planning and forecasting an extensive internal and external supply base
• Driving improvements of forecast assumptions, exception management and root cause analysis to identify forecast deviations and issues
• Leading the Demand Planning group to improve accuracy, quality and frequency of overrides, forecast bias, and reduce sources of forecast error
• Leading the Demand Planning group to maximize the effectiveness of the statistical forecast by adjusting/cleansing historical demand and determining appropriate levels of aggregation for calculating the statistical forecast
• Managing supply/demand imbalances in collaboration with the Supply Planning when there is abnormal demand, when supply issues arise and/or when customer requirements are outside the capability of the supply chain to deliver
• Challenging the Sales and Marketing assumptions when significant deviations occur between the demand-based revenue plan and the business plans

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Ten (10) years as a supply chain professional, with a focus on senior-level tasks in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management or a related field from an accredited institution
• Ten (10) years as a demand planner, with a focus on senior-level tasks in a private, public, government or military environment in a private, public, government or military environment
• Knowledge of Supply Planning (SP), Production Planning (PP), and/or Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes
• Experience working on cross-functional and international teams
• APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certification
• SAP Experience
• Skills include strong communication and presentation skills, Ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams, Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings, data driven, results oriented, accountable for results
• Energetic with a demonstrated sense of urgency

Work location:

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic &/or international
