As a Senior Advanced Planning Specialist on the Advanced Planning Strategies Team, you’ll work directly with planning teams to deliver advanced financial planning support and research, including preparing for and attending consultations with planners, clients, and potential clients. In this role, you will be responsible for helping to support advanced planning inquiries and initiatives in a wide variety of technical areas, including retirement income strategies, Social Security, insurance, estate planning, income tax, education, and special needs planning.

For this Senior Advanced Planning Specialist role, we are seeking a candidate who will be client centric, broadly knowledgeable about financial planning laws and regulations, and be a highly effective researcher and communicator. Along with successful experience in financial services, preferably with experience at a Registered Investment Advisory firm, the candidate will bring a collaborative attitude and energy toward enhancing and serving the client and planner experience.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the incoming complex financial planning-related questions from EFE’s planning teams and connect with them to provide thorough, thoughtful responses and resources
- Research complex financial planning-related issues and provide thought leadership and holistic wealth strategies to planning teams
- Create and provide subject matter expertise on internal and external financial planning resources and deliverables (e.g. articles, presentations, videos, job aids, etc.)
- Coordinate with our Learning & Development and Practice Management teams support and/or lead various financial planning initiatives such as advanced planning training, CE credit programming, small group sessions, large group webinars, 1:1 coaching, and curriculum to upskill planning teams
- Drive engagement with the Advanced Planning Strategies team and develop relationships with planners at all levels
- Keep current with financial planning issues and legislative changes, industry trends
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree in the financial or accounting industry preferred.
- 7+ years of financial planning experience and clean U4, if previously licensed.
- CFP® professional designation preferred. other professional designations considered (e.g. RICP®, CRPC™, EA, etc.). Must be in good standing.
- Life and Health License required or able to obtain within 6 months
- Strong project/program management and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills, and a proven track record of working effectively with colleagues at all levels in a fast-paced environment.
- Core knowledge of financial industry, financial products and technology, and financial planning concepts. Expertise in all personal financial planning subjects preferred (e.g., investments; insurance; retirement planning; taxation; etc.).
- Experience and comfort communicating complex financial planning strategies in 1:1, small group, and large group (> 200) settings.
- Some travel (5-10%) may be required.
Edelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $137,000 - $157,200. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibil
