Bowers’ Facilities Department is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and engaging spaces for our college community to work, teach, learn, and flourish.

What you Will Do

We are looking for a team player to fill a temporary role on our Facilities Team. This assignment will be up to 4 months.

General Responsibilities/Duties Include:

  • Conduct and be responsible for preventative maintenance, building safety, and security functions.

  • Monitor building systems and respond to general maintenance requests.

  • Identify and implement facilities improvements, including office reassignments and furniture/equipment moves.

  • Manage access and security measures, including tracking key inventory and using card access software to grant or remove room access.

  • Oversee mailroom activities.

  • Coordinate with building care staff to ensure timely removal of debris and recyclable materials.

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure spaces remain clean and safe.

  • Maintain inventory of furniture, equipment, and other items in use or stored within facilities.

What We Need

  • High school diploma and 2-4 years in facility maintenance, engineering technology, construction, or similar field(s).

  • Strong commitment to customer service.

  •  Dependable and consistent in- person work schedule.

  • Quick learning and forward thinking towards procedure improvements.

  • Proficient with basic computer programs for data entry/tracking as well as Microsoft Outlook

  • Ability to learn and follow University or College policies and procedures.

  • Strong communication skills to provide timely and factual updates to stakeholders.

  • Ability to objectively prioritize work especially when stakeholders have competing priorities.

It would be a bonus if you have any of the following:

  • Experience working with door access and key inventory programs.

  • Previous Cornell building/facilities coordination experience.
