About the role

Overview

The Staffing Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating patient assignment and staffing on a shift-by-shift basis in order to ensure appropriate patient coverage across all shifts. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date patient assignment spreadsheet and will complete all paperwork associated with schedule changes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, compile, and maintain an updated telephone contact list for Neurobehavioral Unit (NBU) inpatient staff.
  • Answer designated telephone extension to obtain pertinent information regarding staff call-outs. Obtain, document, and file required information and make necessary adjustments to patient assignment.
  • Respond to the intercom on the unit and identify and designate available staff resources accordingly.
  • Identify and anticipate staffing shortages on upcoming patient assignment and on-call schedules and follow procedures to ensure appropriate staffing. This includes solicitation of volunteers, notification of float staff, timely notification of on-call staff, and timely notification of appropriate supervisors if the implementation of mandatory overtime is anticipated or becomes required.
  • Assist in conducting shift change, coordinating patient assignments, and assign work breaks and duties for designated shifts.
  • Coordinate all paperwork associated with schedule changes. This includes, but is not limited to, requests for leave, switches, on-call sign-ups, on-call giveaways, shift balancing, holiday sign-ups, and overtime sign-up.
  • Coordinate temporary adjustments to patient assignments to afford opportunities for supervisors to speak with assigned staff.
  • Regularly generate and disseminate attendance data reports to appropriate supervisors.
  • Assist the Senior Staffing Coordinator in building and maintaining patient assignments each week based on scheduling needs and staff availability.
  • Assist in maintaining organization of patient matters including patient color groups and bedroom, bath, and meal assignments.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
    • Associate’s Degree or higher is preferred.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Previous administrative or other relevant experience is preferred.

     

    Minimum pay range

    USD $37,132.78/Yr.

    Maximum pay range

    USD $60,215.17/Yr.
