The Medical Mobility Services Driver is responsible for safely transporting medically stable, ambulatory patients who are either being discharged from the hospital or who are currently admitted as inpatient/observation patient or skilled nursing resident. This role includes transporting discharged patients to their home or next level of care, as well as providing scheduled transportation for admitted or skilled nursing residents between the hospital and off-site appointments, procedures, or services, with return transport as required. The Medical Mobility Services Driver must deliver a high level of customer service while prioritizing passenger safety at all times. This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, maintain strong hand-eye coordination, and safely operate a transport vehicle while remaining aware of traffic and environmental conditions. Patience and professionalism are essential when navigating heavy traffic, schedule changes, or interacting with anxious or agitated passengers. Reliability and dependability are critical to ensuring timely, coordinated patient transportation that supports continuity of care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICESNURE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid driver’s license
3. Active CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of hire
4. Active WV Cares/background clearance or pass WV Cares/background clearance within 90 days of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Three (3) years driving experience driving a multiple passenger vehicle.
2. Previous experience in public transportation, ride share, wheelchair van, EMS Non Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT) Driver, or similar role

CORE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1.    Provides safe, timely transportation for medically stable, ambulatory or wheelchair assisted patients, including discharged patients traveling to their residence or next level of care, as well as inpatient/observation and skilled nursing residents traveling between hospital and off-site appointments, procedures, or services, with return transport as required.
2.    Maintains frequent communication with the Acute and Skilled Nursing Care Management teams to coordinate discharge transportation and scheduled inpatient or skilled resident transports, ensuring patient care standards and timelines are met.
3.    Assist patients safely in entering and exiting the vehicle, providing appropriate physical support as needed while maintaining patient dignity, safety, and professionalism in accordance with established policies and procedures
4.    Provides transportation services for hospital including transportation of employees, patients, lab reports, specimens, medical records, mail, supplies, packages, etc. as directed.
5.    Acts as an ambassador of the hospital, demonstrating clear, professional, and compassionate communication with patients, families, caregivers, and staff both in person and by phone.
6.    Gains familiarity with assigned routes, destinations, and off-site service locations by reviewing maps, schedules, and transport requests to ensure efficient and timely travel.
7.    Maintains ongoing contact with the Acute and Skilled Nursing Care Management teams to track transport assignments, patient pickups, destinations, and return trips as required.
8.    Ensures compliance with all traffic laws, posted speed limits, and safe-driving practices at all times.
9.    Conducts pre- and post-trip visual inspections of the interior and exterior of the vehicle, documenting and reporting any irregularities to Security Leadership.
10.    Reports and documents any observed unsafe vehicle conditions (e.g., tires, brakes, lights, fluids) promptly to Security Leadership.
11.    Performs daily interior vehicle cleaning (sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, removing trash) to maintain a clean and safe patient environment.
12.    Performs exterior vehicle cleaning as needed to ensure a professional appearance and safe operation.
13.    May be required to transport, drop off, pick up, or remain with the vehicle at a mechanical service location while maintenance is being performed.
