Senior Manufacturing Engineering role (Technical Leader) for the Compressor Airfoils Sectors Business in Hooksett, NH. The Manufacturing Engineering Leader will lead professional and hourly associates on all Manufacturing Engineering processes as well as partner with the Business Leader to ensure success of the Sectors Business. Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead transformation through FLIGHT DECK
- Lead through daily management the execution of safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the engineering and manufacturing planning teams, including quality, maintenance, and tooling activities in support of the department. Defines and controls production processes including tooling, equipment, operating standards, and manufacturing methods.
- Validates design specifications and manufacturing capability of new products through concurrent development with product design teams. Leads the activities of manufacturing engineering and quality teams to develop and introduce new products including procurement, methods, tooling and first article inspection.
- Collaborate across functions to drive sustainable outcomes for key metrics through productivity process improvements, scrap and rework reduction projects, and product design improvements.
- Develops and maintains business continuity plans to ensure the plant and equipment readiness for new and existing products. Coordinates cross functionally to create and execute CAPEX needs for the department.
- Works closely with department operations staff to ensure connectivity of engineering priorities to the department KPI’s. Coordinates daily technical resource allocation to operational challenges related to product safety and delivery, while leading initiatives supporting cultural and technical transformation.
- Manages a medium team of professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the department connected to technical and cultural transformation initiatives, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university + Minimum of 5 years of of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, including leadership responsibility (team leadership, project ownership, or functional leadership) in a high-volume or complex manufacturing environment experience
- (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, including leadership responsibility (team leadership, project ownership, or functional leadership) in a high-volume or complex manufacturing environment)
Desired Characteristics
- Proven expertise in manufacturing process design and optimization (e.g., CNC machining, assembly, special processes), including root cause analysis and continuous improvement using tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, PFMEA, control plans, and standard work
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop engineers/technicians, influence cross-functional teams (operations, quality, supply chain), and drive SQDC improvements through data-driven decision making and clear communication at all levels of the organization.
