INDUSTRIAL PAINTER WANTED

From fabrication to final assembly, Stepp is a full manufacturing facility for asphalt maintenance equipment. Our equipment heats, stores, transports, and applies all types of asphaltic material for maintaining the roadways.

Our vision is to be a world class manufacturer and the leading supplier of asphalt maintenance equipment.

After final inspection through fabrication and welding, our parts are then passed to the paint department where they are prepped and sent through a phosphate wash in our Alkota wash booth. We utilize a temperature controlled, downdraft DeVibiss paint booth and a mixture of gravity guns and pressure pots to apply a liquid polyurethane paint.

The ideal candidate will have minimum 2-3 years experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment and have a strong working knowledge of best industry practices for prepping, mixing, and applying paint for a world class appearance and adhesion.

2nd Shift: 4x10 Monday - Thursday from 3pm - 130am with overtime available. Some flexibility available upon prior agreement with manager.

Starting wage range $20-$30 hourly, plus $3 shift differential for 2nd shift

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adhere to the company’s standard paint mix ratio to mix liquid polyurethane paint with appropriate amount of hardener/activator for proper curing of the liquid paint.
  • Use of gravity guns and pressure pots to apply paint
  • Use of metal glaze/body filler, and tools such as DA (dual action) to create a flat, smooth surface when applying paint
  • Visually perform quality checks for paint coverage, runs, contamination, or any defect on the painted parts’ appearance before allowing parts to advance to the next cell.
  • Knowledgeable in regards to taping/masking for prep
  • Adhere to the posted paint booth maintenance schedule to keep the booth clean and properly functioning for maximum efficiency.
  • Clean, debur, and sand part(s) to an appropriate level of finish in preparation for painting
  • Load and unload parts to and from paint racks (50lb max weight lifting)
  • Assist with preventative maintenance schedule for equipment within the department
  • Identify defects and manage quality using Inspection Procedures (IP)
  • Ensure on time deliveries
  • Assist in 5S / housekeeping activities
  • Participate in Engineer Change Request (ECR) and Non-conformance (NC) forms within the fabrication department
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train and fill-in where needed
  • Ability and willingness to coach and mentor team members

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Daily exposure to chemicals and paint fumes - Regular use of respirator is required. Hired candidate must pass a medical evaluation to be cleared to wear the respirator, and undergo a respirator fit-test.
  • Requires ability to grip with hands/fingers for sustained periods of time
  • Repetitious and sustained postures alternating between crouching, kneeling, bending, standing for extended periods of time
  • Operation of equipment and machinery such as overhead cranes and/or forklifts (training provided).
  • Remaining alert to surroundings, specifically when operating equipment and/or machinery.
  • Must be able to reason and partake in critical decision making
  • 50LB max lifting weight, or within individual’s capabilities. (Occasional use of overhead cranes required).

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years industrial paint experience preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
