Summary:

This nurse supervisor position is for the Mobile Health Unit coordinator. The Ideal candidate will be an RN with relevant clinic, public health, work on a mobile unit, and/or supervisory experience. Nurse supervisor will be responsible for managing the mobile health unit and will work closely with clinic staff, harm reduction, population health, WIC, and other programs and branches as appropriate to schedule and promote public health advancement across the 8 county service area. This position would be responsible for maintaining the mobile health unit schedule, ensuring adequate staffing, providing direct clinic services on the unit, and also maintaining all quality assurance requirements. This position will work closely with community partners in all counties to help meet public health needs in areas and communities that could benefit from the mobile service. This position will also work closely with clinic staff and clinic team leaders and will work in the clinic when there is not a need for staffing on the unit. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills both orally and written as well as strong organizational skills.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS

CHARACTERISTICS OF A CLASS: ARE GENERAL STATEMENTS INDICATING THE LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY AND DISCRETION OF POSITIONS IN THAT JOB CLASSIFICATION. 

  • Under limited supervision provides direct supervision of assigned nursing and other agency staff, including the completion of performance evaluations. May serves as a coordinator of services for a program area such as HANDS, Home health, School Health, Health Start, etc. Manages program resources. Assures that accurate information is documented appropriately according to program standards. Prepares programmatic reports as required by the local, state or federal guidelines. Participates in Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness activities. May provide direct client care as needed and time permits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE COMPREHENSIVE STATEMENTS OF THE MINIMUM BACKGROUND AS TO EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS WHICH WILL BE REQUIRED IN ALL CASES AS EVIDENCE OF AN APPOINTEE'S ABILITY TO PERFORM THE WORK PROPERLY.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience in public health.

  • BSN may substitute for two (2) years required experience. Master’s Degree in Nursing, Nursing Administration, Nursing Education or Public Health may substitute for three (3) years experience.

  • Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state.

POST EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: EMPLOYEES IN THIS CLASS WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN CREDENTIALS OUTLINED BELOW WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME, OR IF EMPLOYEES POSSESS SUCH CREDENTIALS AT THE TIME OF HIRE THEY WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN THOSE CREDENTIALS SO LONG AS THEY ARE EMPLOYED IN THIS CAPACITY.

  • Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state. Must complete required annual updates.
