The Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (Cornell Bowers CIS) is a dynamic community committed to addressing global challenges. It houses three academic departments: Computer Science, Information Science, and Statistics and Data Science. The college pioneers cutting-edge computing and information technologies while also exploring their societal and human impacts.
Cornell Bowers CIS is home to more than 200 employees, which includes nearly 120 faculty. To meet growing student interest in the college’s majors and courses, Cornell Bowers CIS is investing significantly in expanding its faculty by 50% in the coming years, along with enhancing its staff infrastructure. This growth aims to promote research excellence, expand emerging fields, and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration across the university.
The Department of Computer Science (CS) is an integral part of Cornell Bowers CIS. It offers CS undergraduate majors in the Colleges of Arts & Sciences and Engineering, and offers three graduate degree programs; the Master of Engineering, Master of Computer Science, and Ph.D. The department is considered one of the top Computer Science departments in the US, with world-class research covering all specializations.
What You Will Do:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of The Computer Science Masters of Engineering Program, the Admissions Associate I is responsible for all aspects of admission and recruitment for the CS Master of Engineering Program including, application completeness, transcript review from a large range of schools/majors, advising, communication with applicants, application review and admissions decisions.
Enrollment representatives within Cornell’s colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate and partner with the Enrollment Division to accomplish the University’s enrollment goals.

What We Need:
Bachelor’s degree and up to 2 years’ student services admission in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Superior customer service.
Demonstrated ability to effectively identify and manage academic and administrative priorities, handle complex and sensitive situations, manage data; able to manage and report data.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel), proficient in the use of online application systems, College Net, a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education setting with experience recruiting underrepresented populations. Demonstrated ability to advise a diverse population on academic admissions issues, using sound judgment, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with a team of professionals in a fast pace, complex organization.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well with faculty, students, staff, and parents. Experience in student affairs, admissions, and development strongly preferred.

This position is located in Ithaca, New York. The position will typically allow for the flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week at a location of employee’s choosing within the United States. The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State. The hybrid work schedule will begin after the initial training period. All CIS staff are required to work the graduation ceremonies, which usually take place on Friday and/or Saturday during the Memorial Day weekend.
