JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for an experienced Banquet House Attendant to set up banquet furniture according to hotel specifications and group requirements. Maintain cleanliness and condition of the work areas and equipment. Issue work orders for repair of damaged equipment or facilities. Assist in movement of boxes or freight. Work well with co-workers as part of a team. Read and understand Banquet Event Orders and carry out the instructions given on the Banquet Event Orders.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ability to maintain cleanliness and condition of the work areas, function space and equipment including polishing woodwork, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and moping floors and emptying trash. Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work and storage areas throughout shift.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended. Issue work orders for repair of damaged equipment or facilities.
• Ability to set up banquet furniture including but not limited to tables, chairs, staging, podiums, dance floor, audiovisual equipment.
• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests. Maintain positive guest relations at all times and respond to all requests courteously and efficiently. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately. Handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. Ability to understand guests’ service needs.
• Set linen/skirting on tables according to service standards. Check quality and amount of all stock and supplies using checklist. Requisition all necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to service areas.
• Complete closing side duties: Breakdown all goods as specified in departmental standards, clean all equipment as assigned, restock items for next service and remove all dirty linen and transport to Laundry.
SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
• High School education required.
• Two years of banquet experience necessary.
• Ability to grasp, lift, carry or transport up to 40 pounds and ability to push/pull wheeled carts carrying up to 150 lbs.
• Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and uses time efficiently.
• Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines, must be productive in quantity and quality of work.
• Adapts to changes in the work environment and has the ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
• Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
• Looks for and takes advantages of opportunities to take initiative. Asks for and offers help when needed.
• Ability to grasp, lift, carry or transport up to 40 pounds and ability to push/pull wheeled carts carrying up to 150 lbs.
• Ability to operate various food and beverage equipment present at a function.
• Ability to effectively direct and motivate staff to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the Banquet department.
• Ability to accurately and efficiently input information into computer systems, with developed computer proficiencies.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule primarily nights and weekends
• Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
