Director, Educator Recruitment and Retention Strategy for a 75+ employee (and growing) remote education non-profit providing professional learning to K-12 educators nationally

There are two types of experience being considered for this role: Experience that is directly relevant to the role and Total Working Experience, in all fields. This includes: internships and consulting work. In collaboration with the hiring manager, the People and Culture team calculates experience based on the candidate’s most current resume. When calculating the offer, consideration is given to candidates that possess additional qualifications (i.e., desired qualifications). Teaching Lab will generally cap salaries for new employees at 105% of the midpoint to allow for continued growth in the role over time.

SUMMARY OF POSITIONProject RISE is a three-year federal grant funded by the Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program (TSL). As part of this grant, Teaching Lab is partnering with school districts in Osceola, AR, Kemper, MS, and El Paso, TX. The Director, Educator Recruitment and Retention Strategy will be a key member of the Project RISE grant implementation team. They will work with the school districts listed above to refine their Human Capital Management Systems, focusing on recruitment and retention strategies for educators from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. In particular, they will provide guidance on communications and marketing strategies for the district and schools to build diverse pipelines. Throughout the grant term, the Director, Educator Recruitment and Retention will provide training to district and school-based administrators to build capacity to ensure the components of Project RISE can be sustained once the grant term ends. We expect that due to a gradual release of responsibility from Teaching Lab to the district team, the Director, Educator Recruitment and Retention Strategy’s effort will be reduced in School Year 2025-26.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide strategic guidance to district leaders on sustainable human capital management systems (HCMS) that increase recruitment and retention of outstanding educators and compensate educators for additional responsibilities
- Serve as a valued partner to school district by developing a deep understanding of partner-enabling conditions and needs to inform design and implementation plans
- Identify gaps between vision for talent strategy and current capacity, and provide recommendations to increase capacity and support
- Serve as a content expert on human capital strategy aligned with district needs, including on recruitment and support for educators, including paraprofessionals, teachers, teacher leaders, and school leaders
- Advise district leaders on creating or redesigning recruitment incentive structures and creating pathways for teachers into the classroom in order to build a diverse, highly-qualified, and sustainable pipeline of potential educators
- Recommend sustainable systems and structures that increase retention with additional compensation for additional responsibilities
- As needed, suggest systems for tracking educator effectiveness data to identify needs and trends
- Support development of leadership opportunities and career ladders to increase teacher retention
- Share best practices and research on HCMS from other districts Facilitate monthly working sessions with district leaders to align HCMS with district talent goals
