The Senior Director, People is responsible for developing, leading and operating BigCommerce’s global talent management teams and strategy. In this role, you will proactively shape talent priorities to align to business strategy and changing needs. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of People, this position will lead BigCommerce’s global HR Business Partner, Talent Acquisition and Talent Development teams to deliver a holistic, integrated talent management strategy.
What You’ll Do:
- Direct, develop, cultivate, and evaluate the company’s talent management strategies, processes and systems, translating HR strategy into meaningful talent management initiatives that drive positive business results
- Lead, coach and develop a global team, ensuring the team is aligned and cohesive to drive the successful execution of goals and performance expectations
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for company’s talent acquisition programs and initiatives, including identifying and where appropriate, development of well-rounded solutions to ensure robust and diverse internal and external talent pipelines and career pathways
- Lead global HR Business Partner team to cultivate an engaging, positive work environment and high-performance culture. Provide coaching & guidance to team and leadership to ensure employee relations matters are resolved in a balanced, values-aligned and compliant way
- Provide talent management thought leadership, influence, and expertise in the areas of talent assessment and calibration, development plans, performance management, career development and organizational design.
- Design, develop, and deliver talent development programs, including leadership & management training; partner with our Educational Services team to deliver programs and tools that support employee learning and new employee onboarding.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations when needed.
- Ensure all people policies, programs and processes are consistently carried-out in adherence to global standards and are legally compliant.
- Work closely with and develop strong working relationships with the broader People Experience team and key partners such as Finance, HRIS and 3rd party vendors to ensure effective service delivery of all talent management & talent acquisition platforms and programs
- Leverage internal and external analytics to assess programs, process performance, and business needs.

Who you are:
- 12+ years experience in Human Resources, preferably in a global, public technology company, 5+ years management experience
- Broad experience and track record in HR, including talent management, talent acquisition and employee relations; experience leading HR Business Partner team a plus
- HR Certification (i.e. SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred
- Strong working knowledge of US( multi-state) and global (multi-country) employment laws and regulations and the ability to appropriately spot employment risk issues
- Capability to apply discretion and sound judgment in managing complex processes, decisions and handling sensitive information
- Exceptional communication, coaching, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong influencing skills leveraging business acumen, expertise and data
- Excellent presentation skills;aAbility to synthesize information and present to audiences at all levels
- Tech-savvy; ability to effectively navigate various software platforms: global recruitment, HRIS, LMS, and Communication platforms
- Results-oriented, with a “can-do” attitude and "hands-on" approach
- Agile, with the ability to adapt to changing demands; flexible to varying processes across multiple cultures
- Strong project management skills
- Experience with Workday, Culture Amp and Greenhouse a plus
