CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
The primary responsibilities of the Global Accounting & Intercompany department are to obtain an understanding of current company-wide accounting/finance policies, ownership and maintenance of accounting guidance, thresh holds and cutoff while driving standardization and synergies. Overall goal of this position which is focused on inventory is to ensure accuracy and integrity of the Company’s inventory assets, while ensuring best practices and consistent improvement. The job responsibilities associated with these core tasks are outlined below:
- Obtain an understanding of current global Accounting/Finance policies and procedures related to inventory
- Work with the SBS, operations teams and business unit teams to gather and centralize procedure and policy
- Work on standardization of policy and processes
- Ensure the Company’s internal controls around inventory are documented, proper and adhered to
- Act as the Business Process Owner for all inventory accounting procedures and practices
- Design and implement standard SW inventory accounting procedures and practices
- Support efforts of policy/procedure changes and consistent improvement
- Ensure overall accuracy of the Inventory balances on the Company’s balance sheet
- Balance sheet reconciliations including the integrity of BTP reconciliations
- Ensuring reconciling items identified are followed up in a timely manner and cleared
- Best practices are followed and applied
- Define globally consistent service level agreements
- Lead discussions and partner with Inventory related Accounting/Finance management teams to guide them on policy changes and updates
- Work with the SBS Inventory team on but not limited to
- Provide recommendations to SBS and the business on process improvement ideas
- Consistent Inventory Obsolescence and slow-moving policy across like products
- Automation and standard calculations when able
- Physical inventory and Cycle counts processes
- Ensure best practices with inventory transfers between sites and intercompany
- Collaborate with the Global Finance Policy team with ongoing review and validation of Accounting/Finance policies specific for inventory
- Assist in developing an ongoing review and validation process for inventory policies
- Ensure policies are reviewed, validated, and approved on a recurring basis for inventory
- Ensure policies are readily available and the finance teams are aware
- Connecting operational procedures with Finance policy
- Partner with other departments to update inventory policies for new accounting areas, policy changes, etc.
- Identify opportunities to streamline company-wide global policies
- Supervise assigned employees, including a focus on staff development
- Delegate tasks as appropriate and provide guidance
- Review work performed and provide constructive feedback
- Complete formal and informal performance appraisals
- Provide opportunities for growth and development
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or finance
Preferred:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting and/or auditing.
- General Accounting Expertise & Compliance: Subject matter expertise in US GAAP accounting principles such as revenue recognition, accrual accounting, and inventory valuation.
- Supervisory experience
Preferred:
- Financial audit experience, including, experience in process documentation, accounting research, etc.
- Familiar with Oracle and global consolidation systems
- Experience with GSC inventory
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- Accounting AI, Automation, & Enabling Systems: Identifying opportunities and innovative ways to integrate/optimize AI, machine learning, and RPA into financial processes in order to parse through large financial data sets, reducing / identifying errors, improving forecasts, identifying trends, etc. Understanding of and being able to leverage accounting and enabling systems to help increase accuracy and speed in financial tasks, while also providing real-time data and insights that can inform strategic business decisions.
