Director, Scholarship Management

Summary:

The ASPCA has recently launched a bold national veterinary scholarship to support the development of a robust and mission-aligned veterinary workforce in animal welfare. This initiative aims to establish a sustained pipeline of future leaders who are deeply committed to the well-being of animals. Through a competitive, objective, and thoughtful selection process, the ASPCA will award scholarships to veterinary and veterinary technician students who demonstrate a passion for animal welfare and a commitment to applying their skills within the animal welfare sector.

The Director, Scholarship Management, leads the day-to-day operations of the ASPCA Veterinary Scholarship. The Director ensures that the scholarship program aligns with the organization’s strategic goals for access to care and impact, and that the program's goals, eligibility criteria, application timelines, and evaluation rubrics are consistent with organizational values, objectives, and standard practices. The Director also leads the creation and implementation of the ASPCA Veterinary Scholar Network, ensuring that current and former ASPCA Scholars remain engaged with the organization throughout their award lifecycle and beyond.

This position requires a great deal of initiative to develop and launch a new program while learning and adjusting along the way. The Director will oversee the external scholarship management firm and guide the collaboration with Legal, Finance, and Communications. The Director will also be comfortable working independently to make sound and timely decisions while navigating potential ambiguity in launching and managing two new programs.      

The Director, Scholarship Management reports directly to the SVP Operations and New Initiatives, Program Team, and has one direct report.

Where and When You’ll Work

• This remote-based position (which requires travel, as described below) is open to all eligible candidates based within the United States.

• A Monday through Friday schedule with occasional evening or weekend work is expected. 

• Ability and willingness to travel, including potential weekend travel, up to 15% annually.

The target hiring range is based on where the employee works, which for remote roles is the employee’s primary location of residence, and its respective cost of labor.  You can view which zone applies to you based on your location (aspca.app.box.com/v/aspcazonetable). Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary ranges for this role are set forth below and may be modified in the future. 

• Zone 1: $96,000 - $103,000 annually

• Zone 2: $106,000 - $113,000 annually

• Zone 3: $117,000 - $124,000 annually
