Job Description: Sr. IT Operations Engineer

Location: Remote

The Senior Information Technology Operations Engineer serves as a senior technical resource for the IT Operations comprised of other Operations Engineers and Operations Technicians. The Senior IT Operations Engineer’s primary responsibilities include: Hands on implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of process and procedure standards for various IT products in the Enterprise; documentation upkeep and creation; process efficiency and automation design; being an internal escalation point for intra-team and inter-team technical issues; assist with training and growth of all Operations Engineers and Operations Technicians; assist with product growth and vetting of new technologies; and, new technology research.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports the design and configuration of complex system landscapes
• Performs moderately complex systems and database administration
• Monitors and tunes appropriate systems to ensure optimum level of performance
• Ensures system uptime across various system platforms
• Troubleshoots problems to locate root cause and appropriate fixes in expedient fashion
• Provides systems support and technical issue resolution in support of other teams
• Prepares standard statistical reports
• Consults with third party vendors to obtain support, make recommendations, schedule work orders
• Documents or revises user and technician training manuals and procedures
• Develops and executes methodologies for increasing infrastructure optimization and standardization
• Assists in developing and maintaining onboarding standards for new systems
• Works with vendors for support with resolving issues and developing/maintaining platform strategy
• Provides mentoring, guidance, and professional development support to others on staff
• Oversees, recommends, and implements database solutions and enhancements to ensure an improvement in system reliability and performance
• Collaborates to maintain a library of system-supporting processes and procedural documentation
• SQL administration, including the support and development of queries/reports
• Monitors the health of systems, to include infrastructure, servers, storage, and clients

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An expansive knowledge of Microsoft platforms, both local and cloud
• Experience with Microsoft 365, including Intune, Purview, Defender, and Entra
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Virtual Desktops, Azure VMs, NSGs, VPN Gateways, and Azure File Storage.
• 10+ years’ experience implementing/managing workstation and server platforms, Operating System deployment and maintenance, in-depth systems engineering, and related technologies
• Senior level experience administering and managing an engineering team
• Experience with server hardware, operating systems, networking, storage and storage fabrics, high-availability and redundancy requirements, disaster recovery and backup, databases
