Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to be based in Germantown, MD with travel domestically and internationally.

This position will support high-profile projects for the Department of Defense.(NAVFAC + USACE).

This position is expected to begin immediately.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Performing geotechnical tasks and working closely with other disciplines to meet the project needs, under the supervision of senior engineers.
• Oversight of subsurface investigation programs.
• Adhere to AECOM safety culture and maintain a safe work environment.
• Assigning and reviewing data from geotechnical laboratory testing.
• Performing design calculations for pavements, shallow and deep foundations, tunnel components, retaining walls, and temporary and permanent support of excavation.
• Performing settlement analysis, ground improvement analyses, slope stability analyses, and seepage analyses.
• Assist the geophysics group in data collection during geophysical surveys.
• Prepare engineering reports and memoranda.
• Performing construction oversight.
• Finding opportunities to bring innovation to the operations using data science, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.
• Participating in local professional events to represent AECOM.
• Traveling for projects domestically and internationally for a few days to two weeks at a time is required.
   

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree In Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
• Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required
• Valid Driver's License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review

• Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (MD locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $63,000 - $85,000.
