This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Responsible for ensuring radiological compliance in accordance with all applicable government and industry standards, rules, and regulations. Develops, prepares and/or approves technical basis documents, partakes in hazard analysis reviews, and As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) design reviews. Calculates, analyzes, establishes, and incorporates proper radiological protection controls to prevent or minimize adverse effects to onsite personnel, the surrounding public, and the environment. Participates in work planning and execution, supports field exercises, conducts field surveillances, performs assessments, and assists in training of Health Physics Technicians (HPT).

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA/BS and 7 years of radiological experience in the field of health physics, including 5 years of DOE Laboratory experience.
• This position requires an in-depth knowledge of DOE Contractor operating practices, Radiological Control practices and requirements, safety procedures, and work management policies. Additionally, the ability to understand technologies and equipment being used is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current or past DOE Radiological Protection Core qualification and National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologist (NRRPT) certification, or Certified Health Physics (CHP) qualification is highly desirable.

Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

Grade 18: $104,175 - $131,425

In accordance with the Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc (Navarro) salary determination process, Navarro takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities and the candidate’s education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market.
